I use Linux operating system to revive my old computer. I never got the highest possible performance of my computer until I was into Linux. My Linux boots 47 seconds only and applications are so responsive even if I have too many applications installed. When I had WindowsXP, its not like that. My XP before boots for like 2minutes or so and applications are sooo slow. And the good thing about Linux is I never get any virus whatsoever. Fast clean and productive. :)

That's a nice insight Adam. If such applications are available that could check the performance and report it in a very understandable language. Use of jargon could make such applications less appealing, and serve to only a limited audience.

Few days back my computer was too slow and there was annoying program running on the background. I tried many software programs to resolve the problem but ended up only in frustration. I finally had to call up the Software Technician and reinstall my OS. But from hereon I can educate myself thru "Slow Computer No More" and fix the minor computer problems.

I don't recommend software to speed up slow PC. It's useless. Instead you can try the following steps:
1. Disk Clean up
2. Disk Deframentation
3. Adding more RAM
4. Uninstall unnecessary programs
5. Remove unwanted software and services from start up

A nice alternative to other applications. I'd like to see educational materials included with software performance increasing packages nowadays -- you can fix people's problems, but leaving them with the tools to handle their own issues in the future is even better. You can give a person fish and feed them for a day ... but if you give them a rod, they feed themselves for a lifetime.
